Christina Pettersson was born in Stockholm, Sweden in 1976, and currently lives in Miami, Florida. She is known for her meticulous, large scale graphite drawings, as well as multi screen videos. She received a Fulbright Grant to return to Sweden in 2000, and attended the Valand School of Fine Arts in Gothenburg. She has received the South Florida Cultural Consortium Fellowship twice (2006, 2011), and the Individual Artist Fellowship (2010). More recently she has attended residencies at the Vermont Studio Center, Yaddo, and currently at the Deering Estate.
Pettersson has exhibited work in the Birmingham Museum of Art, AL, Columbus Museum of Art, GA, Baltimore Museum of Art, MD, Naples Museum of Art, FL, and locally in South Florida at the Miami Art Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Spinello Gallery, Locust Projects, Carol Jazzar Contemporary, Calix Gustav Gallery, and Rocket Projects. Her work is in the permanent collections of Martin Z. Margulies at the Warehouse, Liza and Dr. Arturo F. Mosquera, and Marty & Cricket Taplin at the Sagamore Hotel. She has been published multiple times in Manifest Drawing and New American Paintings Magazine, where she was the editor’s pick, and has been interviewed for ArtSlant, Miami Modern Luxury, Florida International Magazine, Miami Photo. Her last solo show, Resurrection, was filmed for a documentary on Artnet TV. Her most recent solo project took place in February (2012) at the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood, Florida.
